Can you believe it is 2019 already? Every year December 31st rolls in and I can't help thinking 'where did that year go?'

But I love the New Year and enjoy the new beginning of a year, the chance to reflect, make plans and set intentions for the year to come.

Looking back, 2018 was a great year. In my personal life, Chris and I travelled to America - visiting New York, Washington and seeing my brother who lives in North Carolina - and had a beautiful relaxing week away in Crete, spending time by the sea, reading and having a digital detox.

We spent the summer enjoying our garden, planting lots of veggies and flowers and like everyone else enjoying the heatwave living by the sea - what a summer! I painted our courtyard and we finished the studio before having a break from house renovations (which we had spent most of 2017 doing!)

There were weddings, babies (not ours!) and so many new memories with friends and both our families. When I look back through photos from the year it was full of colour, blue skies and I've got to the end of 2018 with a full heart.

I had set myself the words of SELF LOVE and CALM for 2018 after suffering with anxiety at the end of 2017.

In 2017 I was diagnosed with Endometriosis which led to health anxiety and the last few months of 2017 were particularly hard. So I set myself these words to focus and have carried them with me all through the year.

I focussed on yoga, eating well, taking time to relax, having baths, reading books, going for walks, sleeping (!!) and most importantly...paint!

Rediscovering my love for painting filled my mind with calmness and filled my heart with love.

2018 - PAINTING REFLECTIONS I began to paint galaxies at the beginning of the year and never looked back. Picking up watercolour painting (something I had not really tried) and enjoying experimenting with movement, colours, depth, textures led to painting a few series of these galaxy paintings. I also experimented with acrylic paintings again towards the end of the year and this is something I want to continue with in 2019.

Painting brings me such joy, clarity and calmness and I'm not quite sure why it took me 6 years after University to rediscover this love (I studied Fine Art Painting at University). But everything happens for a reason I suppose!

I have truly been overwhelmed by peoples responses and kindness to my work this year.

I shared on my Instagram that this year I sent 50 paintings off to new homes (48 galaxies and 2 acrylic seascapes) as well as prints, cards and my newest creation - galaxy Christmas decorations. And I can't express how happy this has made me!

It isn't about the numbers, of course, as I really am painting because it brings me joy, but to know that people like my work and that my paintings are on the walls of peoples homes makes me so unbelievably happy!

To say thank you, there is currently 25% off all pre-painted galaxies in my Etsy shop until Sunday 6th January 2019 so if you are after a galaxy hop on over!

2019 - INTENTIONS I'm really excited for what 2019 will bring.

Following on from 2018, I am sticking with my words of SELF LOVE and CALM. They've become a bit of a mantra to me and I want to carry on my practices of yoga and painting to keep instilling calmness and self love into my life.

In terms of painting I am excited to see where this goes.

I have a few new plans and ideas; one being to be able to take more acrylic seascape commissions and be able to send these out to you. So if you are this space. Another being to continue with my weekly blog - after this post they will be posted every Monday! Plus a couple more bigger ideas which I will share with you soon!

I am also really excited to be kicking off the year as a co-host with @myhousethismonth - a brilliant home challenge with daily prompts. If you love home decor, check it out, it's a great challenge and you could win a painting this month too!

Everything as always will be announced on my Instagram so if you don't already, head over there to find out more!

I hope 2019 brings you everything you want and more! Are you setting intentions or resolutions?
